It think the notion that being in contact with an infected person automatically means that they will pass the disease is misguided by the narratives out there.
We need to get back to the basics of this disease and forget things like spraying the streets or mass sanitizers (cattle dips for people) that have very doubtful science behind them.

Remember the disease is spread when you intake the virues via your mouth, nose and eyes. How does it get there? mostly through the hands and that is why people are asked to wash their hands (not touch your face - if you can). How does it get to the hands? someone sneezes or coughs into the hands.

The second means is spread through the air in short distances (coughing, sneezing or 'speaking'). but ideally, these would be in symptomatic cases.
Touching surfaces that have been exposed to the viruses and then TOUCHING YOUR FACE. Will lead to a possible infection.

The average transmission rate of Covid-19 is such that 1 infected person infects between 2 and 3 people. Things chickenpox and measles have this transmission rate of between 10-12 and 12–18 respectively.
the dangerous thing about this disease is when the person becomes infectious - the asymptomatic transmissions and mild cases transmissions happen to be the problem. the other diseases usually transmit when the patient is symptomatic.

Masukuma, you told us correctly that there are no corona experts.

Now you seem to be an expert!

Me thinks we are better off overreacting to this virus(spraying streets, wearing masks, avoiding contact) than being cavalier about it like Boris.(Maybe, some expert had told Boris that he could do anything so long as he sanitises at the end of the day)

For new info is still coming in.

Correlation does not mean causation! Remember the structure of society in the east and the west is different? goverments also acted faster in the east. South Korea, Taiwan and the US all reported the first case on the same day. Mass testing earlier in the infection also played a role.

I agree that masks are likely a FACTOR but not the only thing that determined the different tragectories.

There's no probabilities in wearing masks, doctors wear masks and gloves to protect themselves from infections that patients carry.

Patient 31 of South Korea did not shake 5000 hands, they spread the virus from singing, that ability of the saliva to turn aerosol is what accelerated the spread.

I am not an expert... I am observing this thing play out as you are. What I am reminding people is that BASICS WORK. I think we love spectacular and unproven things.... BASICS BWANA! Explaining how the MAJORITY of the cases are transmitted - coughs, sneezing etc is not attempting to be an expert. I think we should not have spectacular but dubious measures that make us forget basics... UNDERSTANDING HOW MAJORITY OF THE CASES ARE SPREAD is critical to fighting this disease.
Let's wash hands, use sanitizes, use masks, sanitize surfaces and we shall reduce the R0 of this disease.

yes - no one doubts that wearing of masks by care givers prevents them getting infected (the gloves aspect is debatable... how do gloves stop you from touching your face?).
Remember Patient 31 is the root of the 5000 infections but not the immediate source of their infection. What do people do in church? they hug, greet each other, speak at close range. Secondly, do you remember - she went to a buffet? touching spoons that others come and handle?

Epidemiologist suggest the majority of the people she infected were from the church. Not that she shook their hands or kissed them but from the singing. That has been explained in the video up there, on how saliva in a room with windows closed can defy the laws of gravity. Now i will not argue with science.

If you have worn gloves you are bound to be conscious that there's something on your hands no?

A few days ago Dr Amoth had told people not to wear masks. After a reporter asked him why people in Asia are wearing masks he said they wear masks as a culture...his statement did not even last a week before it was quashed.

As a doc he seems to think that only docs wear masks yet masks are worn in industries, in farms as a protective gear. SMH.

The virus is very likely airborne hence the role of masking cannot be gainsaid.

Their president is in denial.

Good show from women leaders by the way: Angela Merkel, New Zealand PM and Charity Ngilu.

How many deaths in Africa? Negligible. Black man is immune, even in banana republics with no immunization like DRC and somalia.

We are not immune. Its only that we are not adversely affected. Very minimal symptoms which we are used to.
